John Meaux's Station

Leaving a life of ease in New Kent County, Virginia, the widowed John Meaux settled this station in 1784. It became the seat of his vast landholdings and farming operation.

Meaux may have been an early abolitionist, making provisions for freeing his slaves in his will. He died in 1828.
