James McAfee Station

James McAfee chose this site for his settlement in 1773 while surveying with the McAfee Company.

This stockaded station was built by James and Agnes "Nancy" Clark McAfee and was used as a refuge by settlers in the region during times of Indian attack.

Before the end of the eighteenth century, a stone house, modeled after the family home in County Armagh, Ireland, was built northeast of the station.
