The Courthouse Square in Harrodsburg was laid out with the original town plat and has been used for that purpose for over 200 years.  With a new judicial center slated to be built on the site, the James Harrod Trust and the University of Kentucky Archaeological Survey are working to discover just what lies below the surface of the Courthouse lawn.  This must be accomplished before the demolition of the present courthouse and construction of the new center begins.  Artifacts from the archaeological dig and historic materials from the courthouse will be displayed in the new center to link the past to the present.
