James Harrod Trust members Anna Armstrong (far left) and Amalie Preston (far right) help Kentucky Archeological Surveyor Christina Pappas as she rolls a radar device over the southern courthouse grounds. While many fear the survey will find items that will delay the demolition of the former courthouse and construction of the new judicial center, JHT members are mostly interested in documenting underground historic architectural features that may still exist from previous courthouses. The results are not yet available because the survey continues in other areas on the courthouse grounds, and the data must be analyzed. The Kentucky Archaeological Survey is jointly administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council and the University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology.
